TRAINING ON GENDER ANALYSIS SKILLS FOR LOCAL OFFICIALS IN LAO CAI AND HOA BINH

From April 8th to 17th, AEA Vietnam (soon becomes Action Education) collaborated with the Research Centre for Gender, Family and Environment in Development (CGFED) to organize a course on “Training on Gender Analysis Skills in Socio-Economic Development Support Activities” in the provinces of Lao Cai and Hoa Binh.

The training session attracted the participation of youth union officials, women’s union representatives from district and commune levels from Bac Ha district, Sapa town, Lao Cai City in Lao Cai province, and Da Bac district in Hoa Binh province.
The program focused on two main objectives: Enhancing knowledge and gender analysis skills for local officials, while increasing awareness of the important role of local organizations in addressing gender inequalities and prioritizing key issues concerning women and children at the local level.

By participating in engaging activities and games during the training session, officials had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of gender equality and enhance skills to promote women’s participation in socio-economic activities at the local level.

The program will continue with four training courses to enhance knowledge and integrate gender skills into socio-economic development activities and implement gender-responsible communication activities on May 2-3 in Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province, and on May 20-25 in Sapa district, Lao Cai City, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province.

This activity is a part of the Project “Promoting Career and Business Development for Youth and Women” in Lao Cai and Hoa Binh provinces, aimed at encouraging ethnic minority youth, especially young women aged 18-35, to develop and implement entrepreneurship initiatives locally to improve livelihoods and increase income.
