THE EUROPEAN UNION VISIT THE PROJECT DESIGN IN HOA BINH

On May 26-27, Aide et Action Vietnam (soon to become Action Education) had the honor to welcome the European Union (EU) Delegation in Vietnam to visit the “Enhancing Access to livelihood opportunities for ethnic minority youth through the Promotion of career development and entrepreneurship initiatives” project funded by the EU, implemented by AEA Vietnam and the Northwest Development Cooperation Center in Hoa Binh province.

 

 

The visiting group including Mr. Mario Ronconi – Director General in charge of South and Southeast Asia, Ms. Kristina Bünde – Head of the Cooperation Department, Mr. Jesús Laviña – Deputy Head of the Cooperation Department, Ms. Nguyen Hong Anh – Program Manager, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu – Country Director AEA Vietnam, and other members in charge of the Project from AEA Vietnam and Northwest Development Cooperation Center.
During the trip, the representative of the European Union had the opportunity to talk with Ms. Ban Kim Quy – Vice Chairman of Da Bac District People’s Committee – about programs and policies to support vocational training and employment for young people. The delegation also visited the start-up model of Hang Kia Tourism and Agriculture Cooperative and had a discussion with Giang A La – Director of the Cooperative – about the difficulties that local young people face when starting a business here and the efforts of A La as well as the members of the Cooperative have overcome and achieved initial successes with the support from the Project.
The delegation also visited the business model of embroidery and brocade weaving products of the students of the brocade embroidery and weaving class and participated in the production of specific brocade products in Xom Sung, Cao Son commune, Hoa Binh province. This is a chance for a sponsor to meet beneficiaries, who are ethnic minority youth who are actively participating in project activities to help themselves and their families improve their livelihoods through conservation and develop local traditional crafts.
Ms. Ly Sao Mai- a Representative of Da Bac Community Tourism Joint Stock Company – shared: “We hope to have more training classes on traditional professions such as beeswax painting, indigo dyeing, and embroidery, to help preserve the ethnic culture and create more careers opportunities, contributing to improving the local economy.”

 

 

The visit with many new and exciting experiences left many emotions for the participants, helping to strengthen the relationship between the sponsors and the project beneficiaries, creating motivation for AEA Vietnam and the Northwest Development Cooperation Center continue to bring even more great results in the future.
The activity is part of the project “Increasing access to livelihood opportunities for ethnic minority youth through promoting career development and entrepreneurship initiatives” funded by the EU, jointly implemented by AEA and NWD in Lao Cai and Hoa Binh provinces.
