Recently, Lao Cai has become a well-known domestic and international tourist destination, particularly Bac Ha and Sa Pa districts. This created opportunities for local people to promote their business, however, a very small percentage of enterprises are managed by ethnic minority groups. According to the report from the People's Committee, 3,175 enterprises operate in Lao Cai, of which only a small percentage owned by ethnic minorities, while in Hoa Binh there are 2,569 enterprises, of which 191 (7.4%) are owned by ethnic minorities. This has reflected the limited role and voice of ethnic minority people in social and economic development of the community, as a result of lack of access to resources.
To create a functioning incubator with a clear mission and program to support minority entrepreneurs in doing their business and influencing the development of business culture among young people.
- Setting up the incubator to enhance business knowledge and leadership/management skills for entrepreneurs.
- Supporting incubator’s young entrepreneurs to access funding opportunities from local and international investors/funds and extending their business networking.
- Promoting entrepreneurship among ethnic minority groups communities through policy dialog and best practice sharing.
- Young ethnic minority entrepreneurs (22-35 years old) in Lao Cai and Hoa Binh provinces.
- Local ethnic minority youths, local authorities, community and corporates involved in the project.
